Caley

Caley’s key mission at Metal Art is to ensure delivery of the right goods at the right time.  The company’s extensive and ever-expanding product range means that logistics has become a critical business factor, and Caley’s declared aim is to constantly meet and where possible exceed customer supply expectations.

After leaving Naenae College and spending a year pursuing his passion for the visual arts, Caley joined Powder Coating Services as a general hand.  It wasn’t long before his abilities and diligence were recognised, and he was put on a company-wide training schedule. That would see him learn all aspects of firstly the powder coating business, after which he moved over to learn the various skill-sets required of a Metal Art craftsperson.  That included wet spray painting, metal spinning, sheet metal work and welding, enhanced by a course at Wellington Institute of Technology.  So as well as being responsible for the company’s 3000 square foot store, Caley is the ‘go-to guy’ whenever an extra pair of hands is needed in the factory.

As part of his Metal Art-sponsored professional development, Caley has also spent time engaged in office administration, and completed the Rotary Club leadership programme (RYLA).  His current role requires close liaison with both production and marketing staff, the busy environment demanding sound organisational as well as effective communication skills.

Caley continues his interest in art, creating in a variety of media and developing the skill at the Secret Art Academy in Wellington.  He is also a talented guitarist, proficient in styles from hard rock to classical, and teaching the latter in his spare time.
